How Do I Daily Vlog, Raise Kids & Work A Day Job?
As a creative, I’m alway looking at ways to update my creative flow to fit my lifestyle. If you’re just starting vlogging and have a day job and family too, here’s a way to get started in your world of love and chaos.
A simple docu system that will help you focus on your kids, wife, life and happiness
Make sure you have a wide angle lens on your camera
24mm or lower should be good. (My Sony RX100V does perfect at 24mm or iPhone)
Press record on your camera
Set it down
Stop worrying about the perfect shot
Go about whatever is happening in your life (play with the kids)
Move the camera every minute or so to an angle or a place you’re at
Take the camera and first person that thing.
The key here is to not think about the perfect shot, just being creative when you move the camera so it captures what’s going on
Just go through out your day and put the camera in a spot that gets you doing whatever it is that you’re doing
I do this from the time I get home from work to the time I call it quits at 8pm (About 3 hours)
Now, go put the camera on your dining room table (stop worrying about lighting and the mess that’s in the background)
Talk about your day for 10 minutes (talking head stuff)
I use the Zoom H4n Pro to capture nice audio along side my RX100V, but it’s not neccessary to pull this off.
And that’s it
When you get in post, the talking head is the main line and the footage from all day long is your BROLL to overlay on that
Now, there’s plenty of way to get creative with it and chop it up but we’ll visit that at another time.
